For several seasons, I have resisted the resurgence of 80s fashion. Harem pants, off the shoulder sweater dresses and anything in neon take me back to a bad place…back to when I wore my crimped hair in a banana clip whilst listening to “Can’t Touch This” on my Walkman. However, I can no longer fight the call of the 80s and I owe it all to the return of the bucket bag. Across the past two years, several designers have incorporated this throwback shape into their handbag collections. Please find some of my favorites below.
In Kristi Love’s Closet: Elliott Lucca’s Catina Drawstring is a deco-inspired stunner. I receive compliments from fellow shoppers every time I wear it. The strap is long, the interior is large, and the vintage design is gorgeous. The Catina is on sale at ElliottLucca.com for $208.

On Kristi Love’s Radar: Alexander Wang took the basic bucket shape to the next level by adding healthy portions of texture, hardware and color. The “Diego” studded bucket bag is available for $796 at Madison Los Angeles.

On Kristi Love’s Wishlist: I am officially in love with Balenciaga’s Arena Giant Covered Pompon. This bag is functional, biker chic and I need it in my life soon. This beauty comes in seven different colors but the watercolor grey Tempete is my favorite. It’s currently available at Barneys for $1,895.
